Roofing dumpster rental in Amarillo, TX
Roofing tear-offs generate heavy debris fast. Shingles, underlayment, and decking add up quickly, and you need a dumpster on site before the first layer comes off. We deliver same-day when you call before noon. Flat rate pricing covers delivery, pickup, and disposal. What we quote is what you pay.
What Size Do You Need?
For a single-story home under 2,000 square feet with one layer of 3-tab shingles, a 20-yard works. Three-tab runs 230 to 250 pounds per square. A 2,000-square-foot roof has roughly 22 squares, which puts you around 5,000 to 5,500 pounds, well within the 20-yard weight limit.
Step up to a 30-yard for double-layer tear-offs or roofs over 2,000 square feet. Architectural shingles run 400 pounds per square. Two layers of architectural on a larger home can exceed 15,000 pounds. The 30-yard handles it.
If you’re replacing roofing on a commercial building or multi-unit property, call us and we’ll size it right before delivery.
Amarillo Notes
April through June is Amarillo’s hail season, and roofing crews get booked out fast after a storm. Call ahead. Same-day delivery is not always available during peak storm-damage weeks. Position the dumpster with the open end facing east or north, away from the southwest winds that pick up in the afternoon. Bag shingle wrapping before tossing it; loose plastic sheeting catches the Panhandle wind and makes a mess.
What Goes In
- Asphalt shingles (3-tab and architectural)
- Wood shakes and shingles
- Roofing underlayment and felt paper
- Roof decking and sheathing

What Cannot Go In
- Asbestos-containing roofing materials (common in pre-1980 homes)

If your home was built before 1980, have the existing roofing tested before disposal. Asbestos materials require licensed abatement and cannot go in a standard dumpster.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many squares of shingles fit in a 20-yard dumpster?
A 20-yard holds roughly 20 to 25 squares of single-layer 3-tab shingles before hitting the weight limit. Architectural shingles run heavier, so expect closer to 12 to 15 squares. When in doubt, order the 30-yard. Running out of room mid-job costs more than upsizing upfront.
Can I put a double-layer tear-off in a 20-yard?
Usually not. Two layers of shingles on an average roof can push the load past the 20-yard weight limit. Call us with your square footage and shingle type and we’ll tell you which size fits before the crew starts.
How long can I keep the dumpster on site?
Standard rental is 7 days. Most roofing jobs finish in one to three days, so that’s plenty of time. If you need an extension, call before the window closes.
What if I’m not sure my old roof contains asbestos?
Have it tested before tear-off. Asbestos was common in roofing materials through the late 1970s. A licensed inspector can test a sample for under $50. If asbestos is present, disposal requires licensed abatement. It cannot go in our dumpsters.
